When Riley is in hospital, our family doesn't visit. We stay.
My name is Stephanie.
I'm a mum from Margaret River, and my daughter Riley was born with a condition so rare there are fewer than 60 confirmed cases worldwide.
She’s only five-years-old, but already our daughter has had open heart surgery, brain surgery, and suffered numerous strokes.
There is no cure for our Riley’s condition. The three-hour drive from home to Perth Children's Hospital has simply become part of our life. And while it’s hard for us to be so far away from home, it’s something we never think twice about.
For Riley, having her family close isn't just a comfort. It's part of her care.
And it’s thanks to wonderful people like you, we know Ronald McDonald House WA is there waiting to welcome us, time and time again.
Your tax-deductible donation will help us to support families with ill or injured children when they need it most. Thank you.
We help families like the Shawcrosses, access the medical care and resources they need to focus on what truly matters; each other.
In 2024, after Riley suffered a stroke, The family found themselves 3-hours from their home in Margaret on a ward of Perth Children’s Hospital. Not knowing how long they would be there or where they would stay.
In the past 19 months alone, the Shawcross family have stayed at Ronald McDonald House WA for over 82 overnight stays.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you Ronald McDonald House WA provides comfort, care and support to thousands of families like the Shawcrosses.
